What's Your Definition of Beauty?

Bonnie Hall Ink - What's Your Definition of Beauty?

What's Your Definition of Beauty?

There are certain words that when we think about their definitions, they may have different meanings to each one of us. For example, words like wealth, success, happiness & beauty all may have very different meaning depending on who you are and what your beliefs and values are. How we define these words reveals a lot about what's important to us in life.  For me the definition of beauty is about balance and harmony; the dance between honoring the imperfections, the patina of life and recognizing and being grateful for the good parts all at the same time.

When we feel like we are honoring ourselves with our thoughts, self talk and actions, we will be doing the things that benefit ourselves and others
Whether it's something we see in nature or what we see in the reflection of our mirror, I believe that when we feel like we are honoring ourselves with our thoughts, self talk and actions, we will be doing the things that benefit ourselves and others. The natural byproduct of this is that we will look and feel more beautiful and see more beauty in the world!

  • Take some time and write down your personal definition for beauty!
  • Discover some important values you may have not realized you had!
  • Take the time and create a day of beauty for yourself.....a bubble bath with some Epsom salts and coconut oil, light some candles and enjoy a glass of wine or favorite drink!

Contemplate all that you're grateful for and visualize your delicious future!

BRAZILIAN BEAUTY SECRET

BRAZILIAN BEAUTY SECRET

I was teaching permanent makeup and this beautiful Brazilian women was sitting across from me with the most AMAZING skin. She was in her mid 50's with skin like silk! Even taking into consideration her good genetics, I had to ask her for her beauty secret.

She told me that if you do  these 4 things that you would age VERY GRACEFULLY and the best thing about this secret is that it is easy, affordable, accessible and edible!

1:     LEMON-SUGAR SCRUB
Use 1/2 cup of unbleached, organic sugar and 1 whole lemon squeezed. Stir with your finger and start to exfoliate yourself, starting at your feet working your way up, finishing with your face. Turn on your shower and rinse. Your skin will feel like silk.

2:    ORGANIC SUNFLOWER OIL
I love the sunflower oil as a natural moisturizer. You can even use on your face! There is no smell and it soaks right into your skin and won't feel greasy once it soaks in!

3:  EAT YOUR GOOD FATS......SEEDS
Eat a couple tablespoons of seeds daily for many health benefits. Always eat them raw and preferably soaked In spring waters for a few hours so that you can release the enzymes making them easy to digest and the nutrients more easily absorbed. You can throw them in smoothies, salads or just eat them plain.

Pumpkin seeds are amazing for you! They have L-tryptophan which is effective against depression and they are vey high in zinc which helps with your bone health and your healing abilities. Pumpkin seeds are also help to reduce inflammation.  They are extremely high in magnesium and also contain phytoserols which helps reduce levels of LDL cholesterol.

Sesame seeds are very high in cancer fighting antioxidants such as vitamin E and lignans. They are high in B complex and zinc and also have anti-inflammatory properties.

Chia seeds are higher in omega 3 fatty acids than flax seeds and are more easily digested and don't have to be soaked. They are rich in antioxidants, minerals & protein and help you to fill full because of the high fiber content and help to balance your blood sugar.

4: DRINK LOTS OF WATER AND LEMON
Drinking Squeezed lemon in water is extremely healthy for you. It has a very  alkalizing effect on your body and is loaded with vitamin C. It's also important to make sure you are well hydrated throughout the day. It's really good for your skin and helps with suppressing your appetite. Drinking lots of lemon water naturally helps you detoxify unwanted toxins and you can drink it cold or warm. I love to make my water look fancy by using a wine glass and adding a sprig of mint. A great goal is to drink an ounce of water per pound of body weight.

I believe when you create these beautiful self care rituals they are a wonderful way to feed your soul as well as nourishing your body!

I hope you enjoy the benefits like I have!

PERMANENT MAKEUP VS SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP

BONNIE HALL Ink :: The Art of Beauty

PERMANENT MAKEUP VS SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP

BONNIE HALL Ink :: The Art of Beauty PERMANENT MAKEUP VS SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP
People used to think of the fading factor as a negative, but I love the fact that it fades!

I often get requests for semi-permanent makeup instead of permanent makeup. You'll  be shocked to know there is NO DIFFERENCE!!!!!  They are EXACTLY the same procedure and  there are no special semi-permanent pigments!

Semi-permanent make up is the name that they use throughout Europe and England. They chose to call it semi-permanent because of the high fading factor and the fact that it has to be refreshed or touched up every couple years depending on skin, pigment color and lifestyle. But in the US where we are a much more litigious country and because even if there is a barely there hint of color left, we have to refer to it in this country as permanent makeup. Kind of like permanent hair dye that has to be touched up.

From a marketing standpoint the semi-permanent sounds much more appealing to some women because as a woman, we all know that trends and looks change over the years and so do we. So having to make a decision based on something that is permanent can be scary. What I try to explain to women is that permanent makeup is not about trends. It is about enhancing your features by using your bone structure, coloring, eye shape and color to balance any asymmetry and make you look years younger! I call this facial architecture. There are certain perimeters with the application that will keep someone from making a mistake that could be unflattering in years to come.

It is about enhancing your features by using your bone structure, coloring, eye shape and color to balance any asymmetry and make you look years younger! I call this facial architecture.
People used to think of the fading factor as a negative, but I love the fact that it fades! I love the fact that my once black eyeliner is now a soft charcoal which is much better for my age and coloring. Education and understanding of the entire process is paramount. Yes, I still do the occasional trendy look but only after the client really understands the outcome. Mostly women are not looking for that "Saturday night" look, they are just wanting to look more alive, vibrant and younger!  With one of their biggest reasons for having this procedure is they are sick and tired of having to drawl on their eyebrows everyday!

For women that have had previous permanent makeup and it hasn't faded and they are unhappy with the color and/or design, there are safe and inexpensive removal treatments and color correction techniques that are very effective in fixing any unwanted permanent makeup.

I think that permanent makeup is one of the best non-surgical procedures that a woman can invest in. Permanent makeup can really take years off someone's face, correct someone's asymmetry and enhance all their features of their face giving a women (or man) the freedom and confidence to always look and feel refreshed and beautiful!
