PERMANENT MAKEUP VS SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP

BONNIE HALL Ink :: The Art of Beauty PERMANENT MAKEUP VS SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP
People used to think of the fading factor as a negative, but I love the fact that it fades!

I often get requests for semi-permanent makeup instead of permanent makeup. You'll  be shocked to know there is NO DIFFERENCE!!!!!  They are EXACTLY the same procedure and  there are no special semi-permanent pigments!

Semi-permanent make up is the name that they use throughout Europe and England. They chose to call it semi-permanent because of the high fading factor and the fact that it has to be refreshed or touched up every couple years depending on skin, pigment color and lifestyle. But in the US where we are a much more litigious country and because even if there is a barely there hint of color left, we have to refer to it in this country as permanent makeup. Kind of like permanent hair dye that has to be touched up.

From a marketing standpoint the semi-permanent sounds much more appealing to some women because as a woman, we all know that trends and looks change over the years and so do we. So having to make a decision based on something that is permanent can be scary. What I try to explain to women is that permanent makeup is not about trends. It is about enhancing your features by using your bone structure, coloring, eye shape and color to balance any asymmetry and make you look years younger! I call this facial architecture. There are certain perimeters with the application that will keep someone from making a mistake that could be unflattering in years to come.

People used to think of the fading factor as a negative, but I love the fact that it fades! I love the fact that my once black eyeliner is now a soft charcoal which is much better for my age and coloring. Education and understanding of the entire process is paramount. Yes, I still do the occasional trendy look but only after the client really understands the outcome. Mostly women are not looking for that "Saturday night" look, they are just wanting to look more alive, vibrant and younger!  With one of their biggest reasons for having this procedure is they are sick and tired of having to drawl on their eyebrows everyday!

For women that have had previous permanent makeup and it hasn't faded and they are unhappy with the color and/or design, there are safe and inexpensive removal treatments and color correction techniques that are very effective in fixing any unwanted permanent makeup.

I think that permanent makeup is one of the best non-surgical procedures that a woman can invest in. Permanent makeup can really take years off someone's face, correct someone's asymmetry and enhance all their features of their face giving a women (or man) the freedom and confidence to always look and feel refreshed and beautiful!
